Meet Ramy Khorshed

Bestie, here’s what’s good with Ramy Khorshed, this guy is the real deal in the startup world. So, Ramy is the co-founder and CEO of Sakneen, a Cairo-based real estate tech that’s all about shaking up how things are done in that sector. Basically, he saw the bullshit in real estate, the lack of transparency, the slow pace, and decided to build something that actually makes it better. And he did it with his co-founder Hussein El Kheshen in 2019. They got into Y Combinator’s Winter 2020 batch, which is no joke, that’s where some of the hottest startups in the world get their start.

Ramy’s story? It’s pretty dope. He’s got a solid tech and business background. He studied Economics and Info Science at Duke, which is a top-tier school, so he’s always been about understanding the numbers and how info drives business. Then, he jumped into tech hardcore at the Flatiron School in NYC, learning full-stack web dev. Dude basically took his economics brain and paired it with hardcore coding skills, making him a legit hybrid, the kind of guy who can see the big picture and then build the tech to make it happen.

Before jumping into real estate, Ramy cut his teeth at Future Energy Corp and SPARK Ventures, more business development and management roles, learning how to scale stuff and be productive. Plus, he took a in-depth analysis into risk with Nassim Nicholas Taleb’s Real World Risk program, that’s some advanced thinking, understanding risk on a whole new level.

Talk to her

What’s crazy is, Ramy’s not just about building his own thing. He’s out here investing as an angel in cool startups like Simplex, Geneina, Mercury, and AngelList, he’s all in on helping other founders crush it, too.

What does all this say about him? It’s simple, Ramy is driven by a real desire to fix problems, to innovate, and to build something lasting. His process screams that he’s not in it for the fame or quick wins. He genuinely wants to make an impact in real estate, to bring transparency and efficiency to a traditionally slow and opaque industry. He’s the kind of founder who’s not afraid to jump into new tech, learn, adapt, and roll up his sleeves. That’s why he’s important, he’s a guy who’s not just talking about change, he’s out here building it, one brick at a time.
