Started his career doing web stuff for luxury brands at PMS, then jumped into Rift Technologies building one-click install software for Linux, pretty niche but he nailed it. That early grind got him some chops in real-world dev.

Fast forward, he gets into INRIA, working on real-time comm tech for autonomous driving. That’s some advanced stuff, right? Shows he’s not afraid of complex problems. Then he lands a gig at Zoomorama, working on massive REST APIs, which is basically scaling up to the big leagues. He’s always been about that backend hustle.

But here’s where it gets wild. Sam then jumps into Akamai, one of the biggest names in internet tech, doing engineering and advisory roles. Basically, he’s learning from the giants. Then he hits the jackpot, joins Docker early on as an engineer and later VP of Engineering. That’s huge. He was one of the early team members helping Docker blow up, scaling the product, and building the engineering team from scratch.
