Meet Matthew McClure

Yo, you gotta hear about Matthew McClure. Dude’s a straight-up tech wizard and one of those guys who just jumps in, figures shit out, and crushes it. He’s from the YC W16 batch, so he’s been around the startup block for a bit.

So, here’s the deal, he’s now the VP of Developer Experience at Mux, which is basically the go-to video tech company in SF right now. Mux is all about making video infrastructure easier and more strong, and Matt’s the guy making sure developers love working with their tools. He co-founded Mux back in Jan 2016 with a crew of smart dudes, Jonathan Dahl, Steve Heffernan, and Adam Brown. Since then, he’s been all-in on building this thing from the ground up.

But his story didn’t start there. Before Mux, he was deep in the trenches at Brightcove as a Senior Software Engineer and Developer Evangelist. That was from 2012-2015. Basically, he was out there evangelizing video tech and helping devs build better stuff. The dude’s all about community and making the dev experience smooth as hell.

And it’s not just Mux, he’s got some serious side projects. He co-founded TuneWolf around 2011-2013, did a stint as a software dev at TSAV, and was a Web Dev at Plexus Web Creations. Basically, he’s been messing around with code and tech startups for a long time, always trying to push the envelope in video and developer tools.

What’s crazy is how he’s become a real thought leader in video infrastructure. He created Demuxed, a killer conference for video engineers, that’s not just some hobby, it’s a legit move to build community and share knowledge. He’s always writing, speaking, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with video APIs, infrastructure, and dev tools.

All this shows you what kind of guy he is, super passionate about tech, community, and making things better for other developers. His process’s about jumping into problems, building solutions, and not stopping until he’s made an impact. He’s the kind of founder who’s not just in it for the fame, but because he genuinely cares about the tech and the people using it.

TL;DR, Matthew McClure is that rare blend of engineer and builder who’s shaped the video tech scene in SF. He’s been grinding for years, got YC creds to prove it, and now he’s leading the charge at Mux, making video infrastructure more developer-friendly. The dude’s the real deal, no cap.
