Nathan Holmberg

This legend right here is Nathan Holmberg, this dude’s a straight-up tech wizard and one of those guys who’s been grinding forever but just crushed it big time. So, Nathan’s from New Zealand, got his roots at the University of Auckland, doing all this crazy research on nerve fibers and visualization, super nerdy, super deep into tech and science. But he didn’t stop there. Nah, he jumped into the game, started working at Serato back in 2006 as Lead Developer and Product Manager. That’s when he was really showing what he’s made of, building audio software like Scratch Live and Video-SL, basically shaping how DJs and musicians play with sound and visuals. That was his first taste of leading big projects, managing teams, and thinking about user experience on a whole new level.

Then, he moved up the ladder, became Head of Software at 77 Pieces. Think about it: building digitization tools for fashion, helping brands predict fit and size, that’s some advanced stuff, combining fashion tech with software. After that, he took on a big role at Serato again as Lead Design, where he was the guy setting the technical vision, hiring, and making sure everything ran smoothly. Basically, he’s been the guy behind the scenes building the tech stack for some of the coolest audio and fashion companies out there.

But here’s where it gets even more interesting. Around 2014, Nathan jumped into NLP, text analytics, machine learning, all that AI stuff that’s blowing up right now. He was VP of Engineering at Entopix, supporting research in NLP and infrastructure, basically, he was working on the future of how computers understand human language. And on top of that, he’s been an independent contractor, always staying hands-on, always pushing boundaries.

Then, in 2017, he co-founded Thematic with Alyona Medelyan, and this is the real deal. They’re building AI-powered tools to analyze customer feedback, helping companies understand what their users really want, no bullshit, just pure insights. They got into Y Combinator in the summer of 2017, which is like the holy grail for startups, that’s when you know you’re onto something. Since then, Nathan’s been leading the charge as CTO, scaling Thematic from a small startup to a legit SaaS company with clients all over the world.
