Maximilian Deichmann

Mad respect for Maximilian Deichmann. This guy’s the real deal in the startup world. So, he’s part of YC W23 – that’s the hot batch in San Francisco. He’s a co-founder and CTO of Langfuse, which is this super cool open-source platform for LLM engineering based outta Berlin. Basically, he’s jumping into the AI game heavy, building tools that make working with large language models way easier and more reliable.

But here’s the kicker – this dude didn’t just fall into tech. His background is kinda wild. Started off studying management, which is kinda weird given what he’s doing now, but then he just jumped into computer science on his own, totally self-taught, and then went for grad school. That’s some hustle right there. It shows he’s super curious and not afraid to switch gears if the opportunity’s right.

Before Langfuse, he crushed it at Trade Republic – a huge European fintech. Built trading systems that had to be reliable as hell ’cause people were actually trusting their money with them. That’s some high-stakes stuff. He also worked at a few other health and media startups – MEDIKURA, mydays, and SevenVentures – so he’s got a solid background in building systems that need to be expandable and rock-solid, especially for critical business stuff.

What’s wild is, even with all that experience, he jumped into founding Langfuse in 2022 right during YC W23 with Marc Klingen and Clemens Rawert. They got backing from some big names – Lightspeed, General Cause, La Famiglia, YC itself – so they’re not playing around. Langfuse is all about making LLM engineering more open and accessible, so he’s clearly driven by a desire to push tech forward and build stuff that actually matters.

All in all, Maximilian’s story is about that constant hunger to learn, adapt, and build. He’s the kind of guy who sees a problem, jumps into it headfirst, and then figures out how to fix it with tech. His process from management to hardcore engineering, plus his work in finance and health, shows he’s all about creating reliable, expandable systems that can handle real-world messiness.
